“Sion” is a stronghold.
This visual is a recreation of a real life moment, the imagery of which gained an imprint on my mind I just had to transfer it onto something tangible. I like to play around with different techniques and mix media and also make use of stuff culled from the assortment of collected trimmings in my craft room. So, to showcase this image, I took a scrap piece measuring barely 6×8″, of a handwoven fine palm leaf sheath fiber cloth cutout and used it in place of a canvas. The threadwork is done using various brands of mercerized cotton I have in my stash and some natural cotton I hand-dyed in a small batch to achieve the variegated colors.

It took me the entire week to finish this piece but it was fun to make. The final output is approximately 5×7″ and I’m planning to get it framed in a shadow box for showcase.
