I was trying out my fine polycotton on canvas for Seascape Musings Pattern No. 2 but halfway through I decided to abort it, not quite liking its outcome.

I prefer using the same materials as the finished Pattern No. 1, cotton on handwoven buri palm sheet, which is easier to work with and which better allows me to play with the colors, dimensions, and textures. Doing so also favors a uniformity of all three pattern renditions in the set.

I decided to work it up starting with the beachfront this time, then the skies and sea before the island mountains. I reckon everything probably looked lighter than my hand-dyed yarns and I won’t probably be able match precisely the varying depths, so I think instead of trying to perfect the colors, I will use what I have on hand to recreate the impressions I have had of being there.
For this article I prefer using hand-dyed yarns only. I used a mix of acrylic and textile paint to come up with the color effects I like. These are still wet as of picture-taking so I expect them to lighten up as they dry.
