“FIDELITY” is a show piece for the “Buhay-ilang” bird collection, employing Pattern No.1 The Rufous-Headed Hornbill.
A simple, quick, and easy pattern, it can be finished in one sitting. I had to take breaks in between though to avoid repetitive injury of the wrist. I originally intended to make a standalone bird, but I mistakenly picked up the wrong needle for finishing the beak, such that the stitches were going beyond the design area, so I had to frog it and redo with the correct implement, then I drew a perch around the bird to cover the ruffled fabric.
I later thought of smudging the canvas with midnight blue textile paint and deciding upon the functionality of the final work, a Biblical verse is always a good addition to make it into a framed wall hanging. I selected one that starkly reminds of a perfect kind of fidelity and love that could only flow from its own source, with whom one has to be well connected to be inebriated and endowed. Since I’m not good at lettering, this text in the photo is a mockup overlay, for printing with vinyl or stencil when time allows.
The other two patterns featured the Philippine Wild Duck and an endemic specie of Pigeon.
